The Good Bully project is an
example of what can go wrong on outdoor shoots.
The day started off completely sunny, but when
we drove to the Venice Canals, a cloud cover set
in. It looked very much like the photos on
this page. It literally went
from sunny in our starting point, to looking
like rain 5 miles west of that. We started
shooting, but I just couldn't get the look I had
promised the client because there was no sun in
the sky. So I had to make an executive decision
and we turned around and went back to where we
started from to get some shots with sun. You
can't fake sun easily in post. And while
there are advantage to the overcast look, if you
want sun, there is no substitute really.
Fortunately, there were a few areas I had been
looking at for a while and people were nice and
let us get on with our shoot without
interruption. All in all, a good day.
Indosplace favorite, Carol Seleme Daniel, at a
recent fashion event. Check out the video at
1080p: after the intro with Carol, go to the 6
min mark. There's a certain panache about her
presence that was only hinted at in the photos.
She's starting to become more self possessed of
her sexy.
Good Bully is a design firm
on the East Coast that has created logos and CD
covers for Wale and Mike Posner. He's launching
a new line of clothing and I was privileged to
have the opportunity to initiate the campaign,
photographically speaking.
Christina is a hot new model on the scene with
BRAND Agency. In a mere six
months, she has done a Boost Mobile campaign and a
Chase Bank ad. She was a pleasure to work with -
exceptionally easy going and professional.
For the past month or so, Melanie and I have been
trying to coordinate a shoot and I can't say
enough good things about her. She's humble,
professional, and very intelligent. Combine this
with natural good looks and it's a sure bet
Melanie will go far. She's a shining example of
what urban models* could be if they
really took things seriously and stopped just
relying on sex appeal to get by. Melanie is also
a staff writer for the blog Lovelyish.com.
*Melanie is not an urban model, but I'm just
sayin'...
I came upon Brittney Leigh Glaze's photos
last week and I was really impressed with the
consistency and volume of professional work she
has done. But I was also intrigued by the fact
that she's curvy. I think Brittney demonstrates
that there is a fine line models can walk where
they stay true to their natural shape, but book
pro jobs because they maintain fitness.
Brittney is extremely photogenic and brings a certain
uniqueness to all her photos, irrespective of who
shot her. At any rate, I thought my regular bloggers
would enjoy this feature. She also responded
positively to my request to feature her, and that's a
thumbs up from me (Tim Pethel, shot Brittney in
green dress. All other photo credits where
indicated)
At any rate, I'll let RG assert his position on this
matter, but I'm not even sure I disagree with him.
BTW, these are new scans (not sure I've ever seen
this inside page scan of Leila on the net)
One of the first and only new images to be seen from
this industry favorite for quite awhile. Visit Bria
on Twitter here and see this image on

Nicole just recently opened a
Model Mayhem profile, but I have been interested
in her ever since seeing her work with
photographer Ayo Andrsn. There is a
certain interesting quality to this Nicole, like
an intelligence in the eyes. Anyway, I really
like what she's done so far and wish her the
best. (Look at the lighting in that last photo!)
